The World of Genesis Remastered
Genesis Remastered preserves the expansive text-based realms of the original 1989 codebase, updated for modern play. The game world is structured as a toroid (a donut-shaped ocean world) containing several major continents and numerous smaller islands, known collectively as Domains.
In the Remastered edition, these classic fantasy settings are navigated via a modernized web client that integrates dynamic mapping, inventory management, and helper tools directly in the browser.
Spanning Classic and Custom Fantasy Settings
The game brings together several distinct fantasy settings, allowing players to transition seamlessly between literary universes and original custom realms:
- Middle-earth: Wander from the peaceful farmlands of the Shire and the elven sanctuary of Rivendell to the war-fronts of Gondor and the borders of Mordor.
- Krynn (Dragonlance): Travel across Ansalon during the War of the Lance. Align with the Knights of Solamnia, join the dark clergy of Neraka, or rest under the Vallenwood trees of Solace.
- Faerûn (Forgotten Realms): Explore the Sword Coast around the city of Neverwinter, aid local farmers, or test your courage by descending into the dangerous Underdark, where the drow rule.
- Bespoke Domains: Explore classic custom realms designed specifically for the MUD codebase, such as the central trade port of Sparkle, the elemental lands of Calia, the gothic horrors of Raumdor, and the rugged wilderness of Terel.
A Modernized Playing Experience
Genesis Remastered bridges deep, text-based roleplay with modern interface enhancements:
- No-Install Browser Client: Play instantly in any modern web browser with built-in visual maps, automated inventory screens, and custom sound support.
- Refined Balance: Benefit from updated combat balance, re-tuned guild progression, and clean mechanics designed to respect player time.
