Policy Guidelines for Playing the Game
Genesis Remastered is here for you to have fun. Typically, the only behavior that game administrators will intervene to prevent is that which clearly disrupts others from having fun, or ruins another player's game experience.Harassment
Sexual and racial harassment will not be tolerated in Genesis Remastered. This is not to say that in-game races cannot have rivalries and feuds via role-play, but real-world harassment is forbidden. Many players interact on outside forums and services, but these are not places for us to monitor. If you are being harassed on an external service outside of the official forums and Discord, please use the tools provided by those services to protect yourself against the offender.
However:
If you are blocked by someone on those services, and feel the need to bypass their blocks, this is another matter. We may be forced to intervene in order to provide a safe space for that player in the places that we do control. Take the hint and respect any and all external blocks.
Player Killing and Griefing
Player killing is allowed in Genesis Remastered as long as it does not become abusive. Abusive player-killing is primarily defined as without being provoked killing very small players that cannot defend themselves, or targeting a specific player for repeat killings without provocation. Recognize that other scenarios may arise where player-killing becomes abusive. Malicious or excessive griefing behaviors such as message-spamming and intentional quest disruption are also strongly discouraged.Autohunt and Speedwalking during PvP
While triggers make many things within the realms much easier, and using speedwalking paths makes for quick travel, the use of these during player versus player combat is prohibited. Using triggers to hunt another player or using a speedwalking path to escape player versus player combat will result in:1st offense - Warning
2nd offense - Death without recovery
Note that unlike unattended botting, autohunt and speedwalking are quite easy to accurately detect.
Discussing Numbers
The Genesis code has been open sourced, and you have the ability to see numbers here if you choose to. However, not everybody wants to talk about them. Please limit the discussion of numbers to external forums/Discord, and focus on encouraging roleplay inside the game. They can be discussed in the approved official forums as much as you like. If you discuss numbers with someone in-game and they did not want it (even if they just happened to pass by), we may restrict you in your ability to communicate in-game. When in doubt, ask them first.Player Anonymity
Every player has the right to maintain and protect their real-life identity. This falls under the rules of real-world harassment. However, we also recognize that alt information is also traded through external channels that cannot (and will not) be monitored. This information has been weaponized in the past to harass (both by sharing it, and revealing to the AoP that someone shared something they maybe shouldn't have).
This makes player anonymity particularly difficult to enforce fairly, or consistently. But alt reveals are also a strategy often used by those that wish to harass the person in question. So this requires nuance.
The rules involving number discussions will also apply to alt discussions. Please avoid it in-game. You may also lose your privacy privileges around your own alts as a consequence.
Alt information is NOT considered a legitimate roleplay reason to take many actions (blocking/removing a player from a guild, attacking them, etc). Be careful in how you use this information, as your actions may appear to be harassment or griefing, without you being able to claim role-play as your rationale.
Doxxing (sharing of RL information) can be treated as real-world harassment. Many locales also have laws forbidding this, and you may risk legal issues beyond any in-game consequences.
Multiple Logins & Character Separation
Logging in with more than one character is forbidden in Genesis Remastered. The player should register multiple characters using the "second" command, which will automatically prevent accidental simultaneous logins.See <help double-logging> or specifics on rules and consequences for double-logging.
Moreover, characters controlled by a single player must remain entirely separate in the game. Actions taken by one character that directly benefit or directly influence the fate of the other (if both are controlled by the same player) are illegal.
Finally, it should be known that the Administration does not permit character swaps. Giving away, lending, or selling a character to to be used by anyone other than the original player, even temporarily, will result in swift wizard intervention. The consequences for such violations can include deletion of characters owned by both parties involved.
