Genesis Remastered
A fantasy roleplaying world told in text, rebuilt on the codebase that started it in 1989.
Genesis Remastered is a multiplayer fantasy RPG with no graphics. The world arrives as description, and you answer it by typing: you walk into a room, read what is there, and decide what to do about it. There is no quest marker and no level bar telling you where to go next. What there is instead is a very large world, a great many other people living in it at the same time as you, and a set of rules deep enough that players are still arguing about the details three decades on.
The underlying game is the Genesis LPMud, first written in 1989 at Chalmers University in Gothenburg and developed by roughly a hundred contributors in the years that followed. Genesis Remastered launched in late 2025: the same world and the same mechanics, given a modern interface and a careful rethinking of the parts that had aged badly. It is maintained by Zizuph.
